An
Audience With

at Wolverhampton Varsity Balcony
30th May 1998
It was by pure chance that I saw
this unique event, Kenickie were due to play a gig at the Wolverhampton
Varsity on that night and try as we could there was no way we get hold
of a tickets. Two of my friends managed to get tickets so we arranged
to meet them after the gig. We decided to wait in the Varsity downstairs,
we were starting on our second pint when all the lights in the pub went
out. Everyone cheered in the bar thinking that a fuse had blown or something,
but after a long while everyone from the concert upstairs came down and
we realised it was serious. We were told to finish our pints and leave.
We trundled outside and waited for our friends to come out. After a while
we noticed a crowd was forming at the side of the Varsity so we went round
to investigate. Well, Kenickie were on a Balcony talking to the crowd
below using a megaphone. They entertained us by singing Come Out 2 Nite
(which we helped out with), I Would Fix You and Montrose Gimps It Up For
Charity. We also had an Audience With Kenickie (I didn't here any questions/answers
unfortunately).
After they retired inside we decided to
go to Blast Off but soon found out that power in most of the town was
out! We then went round to out friends house for a spot of sleep deprivation,
alcohol, salt and vinegar snacks and good tunes.
